Build the Next Great University
At Florida Polytechnic University, faculty are more than classroom educators. They are researchers, mentors, innovators and key players in elevating the academic environment at Florida’s newest university – and its only university wholly dedicated to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Conveniently located between Tampa and Orlando, Florida Poly opened in 2014 to provide students with a core STEM education in a hands-on learning environment offering small class sizes and a broad range of innovative undergraduate and graduate degree programs within two colleges – the College of Engineering and the College of Innovation & Technology.
Florida Poly is dedicated to providing students with the education, knowledge and confidence to join the high-tech workforce upon graduation. But faculty are also encouraged to pursue their own research projects, both academic and applied in collaboration with STEM companies. Innovation outside of the classroom, in the form of patents and start-ups, is rewarded and celebrated as much as teaching inside the classroom.
Because the University is new, you can make an impact on the development of curriculum, research and degree programs at our technology-rich and ultra-modern campus. Some universities trade on their history, but at Florida Poly we’re creating the future. Come and build the next great university.
Top 5 Reasons to Join Florida Poly

A comprehensive education goes beyond theory, which is why Florida Poly’s faculty is composed of scholar-practitioners who can bring real-world experience to the table. The faculty at Florida Poly reflects breadth of expertise and experience, in both the classroom and the boardroom.
2 Collaborate with Industry Leaders
Florida Poly professors work hand-in-hand with business leaders and companies to develop rigorous, academically focused STEM curriculum tailored to industry’s evolving needs.
3 Work at the Heart of High Tech
Located between Tampa and Orlando, Florida Poly is the right university, in the right place, at the right time. Within a two-hour drive are over 11,000 high-tech companies changing the business landscape for the nation. Industry leaders are seeing the advantages of Florida and investing in the future. State officials are showing their commitment to this technology-driven economic engine by building the only STEM-focused university at the heart of the action.
4 Make Your Mark
Because Florida Poly is a new public university, we are seeking faculty who can help to define and establish the academic culture from the ground up. Faculty members have the opportunity to organize and develop academic programs, and establish traditions that others will follow in years to come. Unlike more established universities, Florida Poly offers educators the room to advance and grow.
5 Engineer the Future
Dr. Santiago Calatrava, the world-renowned architect who designed the transit hub for the new World Trade Center also designed Florida Poly’s landmark Innovation, Science and Technology Building (IST). The IST is innovative and anything but ordinary. It houses 26 classrooms and 11 innovation labs that include a data visualization lab, supercomputing lab, digital media and cyber gaming lab, and a Rapid Application Development (RAD) Makerspace lab with more than 50 3D printers and scanners.
