Undergraduate Admissions Requirements

The following are requirements for undergraduate admissions to Florida Polytechnic University.

As stated in Florida Board of Governors Regulation 6.002, a First Time In College (FTIC) student may be admitted if he/she has a high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale, as calculated by the University, and presents official SAT Reasoning Test and/or ACT Plus Writing scores. The student must include the Plus Writing section of the ACT if utilizing the ACT to meet this standard.

The SAT or ACT is required of all State University System FTIC applicants. Students with a high school GPA of 2.5-2.99 on a 4.00 scale as calculated by the University must obtain the following minimum scores in all three sections of either the SAT Reasoning Test or ACT.

Required test scores are outlined below:

  • SAT Critical Reading = 460 or ACT Reading = 19
  • SAT Mathematics = 460 or ACT Mathematics = 19
  • SAT Writing = 440 or ACT English/Writing = 18

Transfer applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 as well as a minimum GPA of 2.0 and be in good standing as a degree-seeking student at the last institution attended. All college transfer applicants with fewer than 60 credit hours of acceptable credit must meet freshman high school unit entrance requirements and the minimum high school academic GPA.

Admission to the University is limited by space availability. The degree of competition for space depends on the number and qualifications of those who apply for admission. To increase the chance of admission, students should present credentials that are stronger than the minimum requirements for consideration as listed above. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number that the University is able to enroll, a waiting list will be established.

Campus Life

At Florida Polytechnic University, you are not just a number. You are a member of a small, tight-knit campus community, valued as a unique individual who contributes to a very unique college experience. Because we’re a brand-new institution, having opened for class in August 2014, Florida Poly offers students the rare and exciting opportunity to shape culture and build college traditions from the ground up. Imagine revisiting campus in 10, 20 or 50 years to find a new generation leading the organizations you started or cheering for the mascot you helped to select.

Some of the organizations and activities students have already launched include game nights and movie nights, a submarine club, an annual Earth Day celebration, Humans v. Zombies tournaments, a cyber security club and more. Through the Student Government Association (SGA), students have the opportunity to start even more organizations and initiatives as well as present and discuss their ideas and concerns. “The SGA is the voice of the students. The SGA works to advocate for the students to the administration,” said Andrei Moss, a Computer Science major who became the University’s first SGA President in 2014.

The Office of Student Affairs supports all students and campus life at Florida Poly. Student Affairs oversees residential living, student activities and programming, leadership, multicultural outreach, counseling and health services. Your college experience is in your hands, and our staff is here to help you realize your visions.
